Celebrating Our Member's Successes!

We congratulate and celebrate the success of our Coffee and Contacts members.

August 2008 - Read about Alice Osborn's volunteer activities and writing workshops on MyNC.com.  Alice is  long time member of the North Raleigh Coffee and Contacts Chapter.  Her frequent presentations during our weekly meetings are mini writing seminars on journaling and writing skills.  She draws a crowd and we leave having learned something new.  Attendance at her May talk, "How to be an effective writer in 5 easy steps", broke all records with guests and other Chapter members visiting just to hear her speak.

Phran Gacher said,  Alice is not only very knowledgeable about writing, she explains it well. She was the reason that I was a guest at the meeting; I wanted to learn some writing tips and I did.
MyNC.com is WNCN NBC 17's recently launched news and neighborhood information site aggregating local news and user content.  Registered users can comment and upload story content for their local area.

Jeanne Moyer, EcoBroker and Realtor wrote an article in FootprintsEcoMagazine reviewing the HBA's Green Home Tour.  This year affordable homes received record numbers of visitors.  Green is becoming mainstream and buyers want homes that are energy efficient.  Read the article on Jeanne's Triangle Green Home Blog and view photos of the Energy Star and Green Building Initiative certified green homes.

Footprint is a locally owned publication focusing on "how sustainable or green living can be achieved by anyone without compromising style, comfort or convenience."  The magazine publishes six issues per year and can be found around town at various locations including Whole Foods.  There's a calendar of green events too!

By the way, member Alice Osborn was Jeanne's editor. This is networking at its best!

June 2008 - Garla Smith's firm Smart Mom's was Women's Edge Magazine's  June's cover story. Garla and her business partner Michele Yannik provide services to business using the workforce of stay-at-home Moms.  Both women have children at home and wanted to utlitize their business experience and raise their children themselves.  Sound familar?

GarlaSmith

"We believe that perserverance and balance are the keys to any home based business."

WHAT IS A SMART MOM?
"A woman who has left a full-time career, really loves being a mom and being involved in the community and realizes they are not using their full potential and wants to make some income is a Smart Mom."

Click here to read the entire story  about these two Smart Mom's who created a business that allows them to be Moms and work from home.
